  • Rosie just keeps on keepin’ on.  I discovered her half-way up the stairs on Friday with a very smug look on her face as she stood at the gate bouncing up and down.  I had to sit on the stairs until Brian got home and could help me the gate to the bottom.  She wouldn’t stay off off them.  I give her opportunities now and then to climb them all by herself.  She thinks that’s pretty neat.  Wednesday she also took her first solo steps.  She went from one piece of furniture to another taking 3 steps.  She  isn’t thrilled about us coaxing her between the two of us but she will do it on her own occasionally now.  I am in the process of trying to wean Rosie because of some hormones I am taking that aren’t ideal for babies, and she does OK during the day, but struggles at night when she is tired.  Either way, she refuses formula of any kind, so I am trying to keep her hydrated with water and regular milk.  She is extremely gassy now.  I think that is the milk talking.  I wonder if it is still too early for her to start on regular milk?  We finally bit the bullet and gave her a little haircut.  Sophia is very opionated and in her opinion, getting her hair done in cute do’s is not fun.  She throws a screaming fit whenever I try.  I needed an alternative quick do so we cut some bangs.  She looks pretty cute and it’s much more manageable.

Serra is enjoying pre-school and seems to be making friends and doing well.  She is very proud of the work she brings home everyday.  I’m getting a little concerned about how worried she is about how cute she is all the time.  It is a big deal to her to look pretty and how others percieve her.  She always asks me what people will think or say about what she is wearing or how her hair is done.  We are trying to hammer it home that it doesn’t really matter what other people think.  She should only worry about how kind she is to others etc. I think we are making progress.  Maybe it’s a reflection on how much time and effort I always took with her keeping her clean and dressed cute.  She is looking forward to conference weekend when she sees cousins again.  She asks everyday how much longer now.

We woke up  Saturday and poked our heads outside expecting it to be warm and wouldn’t you know it…fall has arrived in Las Vegas.  It was in the 70′s and didn’t leave the mid 80′s for the hottest part of the day.  Delightful!  We don’t get much of a fall here, it will probably turn freezing in a few weeks and the heater will come on.  We kept the door open all day and I cleaned all day and shampooed the carpets with a cool breeze blowing through.  We had Maren solo with us on Saturday night (Jeff was working).  We went to a nearby state park and fed the ducks and had sloppy joes.  Serra was too excited about the ducks to do much eating.  It was fun though.  We have bread left over and promised Serra we would come back soon.

The 5K training is going well although I had to start walking instead of running.  My knees started giving me trouble.  They are feeling much better now though and I may pick up the speed a little.  I haven’t missed any of the workouts yet but Brian signed us up for 2 temple assignments in the next two weeks that interfers with it.  It is a worthy cause though and I will make up the workouts on my own.  I think it is actually good because it will get me out and thinking of continuing on my own after the run is over.

The girls were all dressed and ready for church yesterday morning so I threw up my back drop and snapped a few for Rosie’s 10 month pictures.  Serra of course wants a part too so we got some of them together.  My cute girls.

Oh yeah, I bought a new chair for our bedroom.  Great deal too.

  • Delightful… anything else?

  • Woohoo – an entry!  Loved the photos and commentary.  We’re looking forward to Conference Weekend – less than two weeks to go!  I’ll be sending a three volume snack-table-request along shortly.  ~g

  • Can’t eat an M&M without thinking about Gary and Conference. ~ b

  • I won’t be doing any snacks.  I guess I should let you all know your conference responsibilities.  E-mails to follow.

  • Sophia’s hair cut turned out good.  Great shots.  I guess it pays to have a late church start sometimes

  • great entry. cute girls. You’re cool.

  • I love the new haircut. She looks so old! I’ll bet the milk is hurting her tummy. I hear it’s supposed to be introduced at 12 months. I started trying to give Olivia cows milk at 11 months & she did okay. I love the photos. You inspire me to take more photos of my girls. I don’t do “real” photo shoots of them often enough, just quick snapshots. I’m too uptight about making it perfect when I set up a real shoot & then get disappointed when the girls don’t cooperate. Where in your house did you get such great lighting?

  • How goes all the meetings at church, Brian?  Are you keeping your bishop on task? Is he a meeting nut or get down and get done kind of a fellow?

  • My upstairs hallway has all sorts of light and I have it set up where I can throw up a back drop really easy.  I only took a few shots and stopped when I knew I had at least one decent shot…Brian only has meetings on Sunday morning but runs around doing things now and then more often.

  • The Bishop isn’t crazy….just from 9-12:30 Sunday morning and nothing during the week.  Pam actually has more meetings than I do. – B

  • Wonderful picts…I really love the ones with both the girls.
