Where to begin? Maybe I'll move backward. My littlest munchkin turned 1 on Saturday. Wow! That was a quick year. She is very different than her older sibs in that she still doesn't walk or even crawl for that matter. She manages to get around with a unique little scoot. She is still absolutely delightful. I swear her first word is "kiss"...it sure sounds like it. A good napper and even better in the night. She's the kind of baby that makes you think you can handle another one...no problem! (no that is not an announcment) And then you remember the boy...
Ah Weston...it's hard to not love him to pieces when he smiles his toothy grin or says sincerely "I sorry mom." But he really is the hardest thing in my life right now. He is a tornado constantly. I love his energy though and someday maybe we'll be able to channel it into something beside destroying the house and everything in it. One afternoon he got into the game cupboard and proceeded to empty it, open every box, and spread all the game pieces and cards all over the room...not just dumped out...scattered. It took me and the girls a solid hour to sort out what took him less than 5 minutes to accomplish. He turned 2 1/2 last Sunday and up until then we had yet to have any success with so much as a drip into the potty. Then on Monday. He grabs himself while still diapered in the morning and hollers, "I go pee pee mommy!" So we ran to the bathroom and wallah! Success! I told him I wanted him to try the big boy underpants that day and go potty. And he did. We had a great week with only minor setbacks. We still have yet to conquer #2. And we have had some interesting situations without a diaper on as you might imagine. I won't go into detail on all those (OK maybe I will) but yesterday morning was too funny not to share. Wes has learned to turn on the hose in the backyard and I often find him with it on spraying things including his siblings who try to get by him to turn it off. In the morning he slipped out back and I could see he had the hose on again. I went out to turn it off to find him naked and hosing his turd on the patio. I think he was trying to clean it off before I found out. The bathtub incident was the worse. He decided he didn't like taking a bath with his poop and threw it out in about 20 pieces all over the bathroom. That was fun to clean up. So needless to say my goal with Weston this week is to conquor #2.
Westonism: As I sang a song to Charlie, "Mom, STOP SONG!"
Rosieisms: As I peeled a cantaloupe. "I didn't know that's where cantaloupe lived. I don't like canteloupe"
"Last night I had a wonderful nightmare." and she says "bikini" for zuccinni and "youcumber" for cucumber.
Speaking of cucumbers....We get about 3 foot long cucumbers from our garden everyday...yes, everyday. We give away about half of them and then Rosie and I have one for lunch everyday too. The zuccinni isn't too shabby either. We have enough to eat it about 4 times a week. The tomatoes were a bust after Weston proceeded to pick all the green ones and then beat the naked plants with a stick until they look quite sad.
Serra is still in school with 2 weeks remaining in her 2nd grade year. She is worried about going to the 3rd grade. She is a worrier about things like that. On Saturday she spent her saved birthday money on some leather boots. She wanted them since her birthday but they were out of season so she has waited and they finally showed up back in stores again. She wears them as much as she can and was really bummed that Monday and Tuesday are PE day at school so she had to wear her tennies.
Rosie has become pretty good at helping me at home. She is especially good with Charlie and keeps her occupied, happy, and safe throughout the day. She also plays really well with Weston most of the time. She is so sweet and one of the funniest kids I know. She gets bummed when Serra gets to go do big girls things and she doesn't get to go along. She has a great imagination and loves building forts. I have a blanket and chair creation in my living room almost everyday. She is learning to write and does her name really well. She can say the alphabet and count to at least 30. She also decided she wanted to swim without floaties, so I gave her about a 10 minute lesson and off she went. Rosie is now pool safe and getting better every time we go swimming. I am so proud of her.
We have spent our summer swimming a couple of times a week, and staying indoors the rest of the time. The temps have climbed to about 115 the last few weeks and with the monsoon humidity added, it is nasty outside. You can literally feel the sun baking you when outdoors. The temps off the pavement read near 180 degrees so even if it's 110 outside it feels a heck of a lot hotter. We are looking forward to fall. We are not looking forward to the electric bill this month. We will happily take donations to help cover it.
Mr. Wes...yes he is actually sleeping...not the safest choice for a bed.
Who's turn is it to lick the beaters?
New adventures in eating with Bubba Charlie. Broccoli and white asparagus on the menu and she dug right in. Popsicles are a fav.
A fourth of July party where Charlie had to stay inside...but she found her way to the window to keep an eye on things....and one day's offerings.
Swimming at Grandmas
4th of July in Boulder City...fireworks and caramel corn. Mmmmmm
A happy baby
Birthday cake...melting in the heat. Birthday girl found the deco quite entertaining.
A few presents from her admirers...and a cake all to herself...not sure what to do with it.
Photo shoot of my baby. Soooo pretty.
Thank you and goodnight.

Huge post. Charlie is so big! I can't wait to get our girls together this next month. I also so glad I don't own Weston. I'll take him in a few years but the tornado stage that he's in right now would kill me! I don't know how you do it. Cute photos of Charlie. I love the very first one that's profile.
weston is crazy. He can literally fall asleep ANYWHERE. I cannot believe Charlie is a year already!
what a buch of good look'n kids.
