  • I really didn’t think a baby as young as Weston could catch a cold.  He has had really nasty boogers for the past week and now he is so congested he has a hard time breathing and eating.  I took him to the doctor this morning as early as I could and they said it’s just a cold but to keep a close eye and watch for fever and a few other bad things.  They brought in a machine that looked like it was from the 1800′s and suctioned out his little face.  He has been breathing better since then but I’m sure it will build back up before tonight making another fretful night for me.  Rosie has had the same thing for going on 3 weeks now but in kids her age it doesn’t seem so bad.  She seems to kick it and then it starts all over again.  Anyway, I just want to keep everyone home and away from all the germs out there until the weather warms back up and people stop coughing in our faces.  I took some pictures on Saturday but haven’t even looked at them yet.

I had a presidency meeting this morning as well and my head is spinning.  Another monthly meeting has been added to the slew.  I now get to attend the weekly missionary meetings once a month.   It may not seem like a lot but added to the weekly visits, weekly pres. meetings, all the enrichment activities (3-4 a month), birthday breakfasts one saturday  a month, stake auxilary training, world wide training broadcasts, single’s committee meetings, and lesson planning….I am feeling a little stressed.  I am supposed to go to another training meeting tonight but I may skip out and stay home and nurse my sick children or in Weston’s case just hold him cause he is so sad.

  • We have all been sick here as well…I hope your family feels better soon!! We can’t wait to see more photos of Weston and all that hair!

  • Sounds like a little divide and conquer is in order with the RS presidency. Are you expected to attend every enrichment activity? Could you suggest as long as one of you is there it would be good and you each just cover one or two a month? I was so glad as Primary president when we no longer needed to meet so frequent as once a week but RS is different so maybe you never get there. Your list of meetings doesn’t seem to reflect the “reduce and simplify” principle. That’s tough. As Aunt Karen would say, “Tie an knot at the end of the rope and hang on.” ~ b

  • I am the enrichment leader & I don’t even go to all the activities. What’s the deal? You must have a dinamo RS pres. I say give yourself a break for a while. You just had a kid. It’s an excuse but a really good one.

  • AMEN to aunt b and julies comments. tell them to back off or you’ll sneeze on them. Better yet. tell them you’ll have to bring your sick children who are currently nothing but runny boogers. perhaps then you will get a break otherwise. good luck my sister.

  • Too many meetings.  I’d mutinize.  (Is that a word?)  Good- better- best-  you’ll figure out the best thing I”m sure.  Have fun holding your cute baby!! ~L

  • Be so careful with Weston with the RSV season….a simple cold can turn when you least expect it! It can be a nightmare and is what landed McKenzie a 2 week stay in the hospital when she was 6 days old. You’re doing all the right stuff–and just say NO to all those meetings right now, wonder woman. -shay

  • I said no tonight.

  • Speaking from experience (and taking permission from last conference with “good, better, best”) stay home with the family… that is your first and most important responsibility.  It is so easy to make it second, as I so often did and regret it terribly.  Your little ones (and not so little ones) need you.  Sister Beck even puts visiting teaching on the “need to do” list NOT the “must do” especially when it comes to putting family things first. No excuses needed.. just a phone call saying “can’t be there, I am needed at home” will do. If that meets with opposition then do as Serra says and tell them to you’ll sneeze on them.  If there is insistance from the other end tell her your supply of masks is low and you’ll not be there.

Your number of meetings is over the top insane…

  • Poor Weston! Sick newborns are the saddest little things ever and nerve wracking for mom. I hope he gets better VERY quickly. I can’t believe all those meetings! Good luck, you certainly have your plate overflowing.

  • Good luck to you. Too bad it’s probably too warm to sit home and drink hot cocoa. I hope you all get enough rest soon! Sad, sick kids are never fun. Love ya

  • Too much training leaves no time for implementation or action.

  • That is why you don’t go back to church for like 5 weeks after you have a baby…because as soon as you do they put you back to work :) And another thing just remember it is a volunteer calling and you can’t fail and there are lots of other people that can step in. And #3 is hard atleast it was for me I felt very off balance for awhile but you might be one of those that just bounces back but I am just not. Anyway…good luck with everything.
