Month: March 2006

  • As noted it the last comments things are moving along well.  We have the to do list from our buyers and it is “do-able”.  We were worried because of some of the things the inspector came up with.  He was a nightmare not only for us but for the buyer as well.  We were afraid his 15 page report was going to scare them off.  Some of the items were so ridiculous it was annoying.  Like Brian mentioned, bumpers in the garage to prevent cars from hitting the washer and dryer.  Brian is taking at least one full day this week to complete termite repairs and the list items.  The termite treatment and inspections will all take place this weekend.  Hopefully that is all we will have to to with the house and then we can concentrate on packing.  Our buyer is interested in most of our furnishings and so we will be taking a lot less with us.  A lot of shopping awaits us when we return from our trip.  We have signed escrow papers and sent them in.  I am sure they will send us more.  It seems to be a never ending process.

As far as the new house goes, as far as I know escrow started Monday and is contingent on the sale of our Santa Paula property closing without any hitches.  We spent some time there Saturday taking pictures and measurements.  It is really hard to not go out and start buying new stuff for the place.  We will not be there officially until May 19th.  But when the time comes our address is:  8876 Sparkling Creek Ave.  Las Vegas, NV  89143.  I won’t know home phone #’s until then as well.  You can still reach us via cell phone though:  Pam  702-374-7997 and Brian 702-445-4885.

Here are some pictures of the place:

My girls, my girls, My girls, talkin’ bout my girls, MY GIRLS…

We had Serra’s 4 year and Sophia’s 4 month picture session yesterday.  I am always amazed at how good they turn out.  It doesn’t hurt that they are so darn cute…if I do say so myself.

  • Brian and I had a bit of a sleepless night stressing over termites.  We have minimal termite troubles but the pest control folks are making sure they get their piece of the pie.  They didn’t even have a ladder that would reach the rafters and have assessed that the rafters need replacing.  That requires the roof to be removed and all the damage that happens when they do that we would have to have a roofing specialist on site to fix.  It is starting to look a little ridiculous.  We are looking at options out of this.  Of course the HOA doesn’t touch any of this.

  • We got our first offer on our place tonight and promptly accepted it.  When our realtor called to tell us he had gotten an offer we weren’t sure what to expect.  I (Brian) thought for sure it’d come in somewhere around $350 but we were pleasently surprised to get what we were asking.  It’s being sold to a couple from Fillmore who are buying it for their daughter as a wedding gift…..here’s hoping they stay engaged!  Closing date is April 13th…2 days before graduation.  Now that’s what we call perfect timing!

  • We had a lot of traffic in our house this weekend and one person even came by twice.  No offers yet though.  We went to Gary and Liesls last evening to feast on an early T-day dinner.  With a move looming a week and a half off they need to clean out the freezer and we were happy to help.  Now what are we supposed to do when the food in our freezer needs eating?  Dallas do you think you can do your part?  I guess our grocery shopping will be very limited in the next month.

We have about 1 month + 1 week before we move.  Since we haven’t sold yet the chances of buying something in Vegas and closing before we leave on our graduation trip are pretty slim.  We plan on storing everything in Vegas the week before graduation and finding a place to live late May when we return from our east coast trip.  We have all our plane tickets and many of our hotel reservations.  Brian has only 3 class days left.  It’s getting exciting!

Here are some pictures from Disneyland on Friday and last night.  First of all…

HI MOM AND DAD…WISH YOU WERE HERE!!!

Serra sure missed her grandma and grandpa.

So much for Sunny California.  We kept pretty dry anyway.

  • Even though the forcast was for rain we decided to brave it and head to Disneyland yesterday.  It was our last opportunity to see fireworks while our tickets were good.  Traffic down was pretty bad and the 1 1/2 hour drive took 3.  That’s longer than it will take to see Gary and Liesls family when they are in Cedar and we are in Vegas.  Anyway when we got there it was really coming down.  There is a tram that takes you from the parking lot to the parks.  There are two rows that are designed especially for strollers and the line there is always longer of course, with the amount of people bringing little kids.  I was waiting in that line with one other lady.  Just as the tram pulled up, 800 middle school kids from Las Vegas got off a bus and pushed past us taking up all the seats including the stroller row.  I used my best authoritarian voice and told them to move it.  I guess they didn’t want to fight me since they all got us and moved.

We hurried into one of the stores before the entrance and bought a parka to put over the stroller to keep Sophia dry and Serra and I used our trusty umbrellas.  By the time we made it into the parks the rain started to slow down and the fun began.  Gary’s family met us there a little after noon.  It was a great day although the crowds were a bit heavier than we liked.  We got to do almost everything we wanted and only avoided a couple of things because of lines.  We got to see fireworks at the end of the day and that was great.  It was a fun show and Serra couldn’t stand to sit down to watch.  She bolted to her feet everytime something exciting happened which was every few seconds.

The drive home was brutal as I was one tired cookie.  I am so lucky to have such a good baby though.  Sophia was an angel all day and both girls slept the whole way home.  Serra actually crashed before I left the parking space.  Thanks Gary, Liesl, and Kids for sacraficing your time to escort us in style once again.

We had two showings of the house today and they both really liked it.  One is coming back tomorrow to see it again.  I hope that is a good sign.  Keep your fingers crossed.  Pictures soon.

  • I get all up in arms when some of you don’t post at least once a week and then I look at the last day I posted and am humbled.  Oops.

We got back from Vegas Monday evening and it rained all night long.  Everything was quite soggy.  We have spent the rest of the week getting back to normal.  Laundry, cleaning, groceries, etc.

We are planning on another Disneyland adventure within the week and a garage sale at the end of next week.  Lot’s to do, so little time.  Somewhere in there a Sharing time needs to be planned as well, and Dr. appt. for the kiddies.

    Old pictures…

Sophia sleeps with her finger in her mouth.  Serra fell asleep holding her little sisters hand.

The kids sing their song for Grandma and Grandpa.  What are we supposed to do with that hair?

    Jacobs birthday party.

You might think it’s Serra’s birthday as she blew out Jacobs candles with gusto.  Mo where he belongs…behind bars.
