Well after my snide remarks to Jeff about how nice it has been here, we got a taste of the heat. Although I don’t think it quite reached 100, we were close. With the added humidity and the lack of some cooling breezes in the evening, no air conditioning, and being pregnant, lack of cool wardrobe and the added layer folks of our religion wear….I thought I was going to expire. I am not much of a sweater but this past week I have been drenched all day except while driving (blasting the air on me). Poor Serra complains from the back that she is freezing and I tell her sorry but Mommy is dying. The part Serra loved was the swimming or the beach or both nearly everyday. She has made a lot of progress in the swimming department and I was really surprised at how brave she was at the beach.
I seriously thought this summer was going to be relaxing and I was going to get caught up on many things. So far we have been running all over the place for one reason or another. Church callings and assignments have really kept us busy. I spent several days getting things ready to enter in the fair as well. Since we don’t see Brian nearly enough we go to his Young Mens activities if it is something Serra might have fun at. Last week it was miniature golf and she thought that was pretty fun. Work is crazy and Brian is gone 6 days a week for that. School is winding down which really means things are coming due and the pressure is on for that. Brian is still pursuing the brokers licence and is still on track for finishing up mid-August. Next month is shaping up to be busy as well with several photo shoots for me. My goal for August is to start and finish Serra’s 2004 memory book. Then it will be nearly time to start on 2005. It’s like laundry.
The ever growing parasite in my belly has increased its movements and I enjoy sitting down for a cool drink and watching my stomach morph about. Serra has felt it a few times and thinks that it is pretty fun. I am pretty sure she gets that there is a baby in there. Sometimes she lifts up my shirt and yells into my belly button. “I love you , baby” and then I receive a belly blow for the baby.
Last week Brian sang Serra a lullaby and now she sings it back to me constantly. It goes like this. “Lum-pie, lum-pie, go sleep my mommy.” She sings really softly, unlike her usual vocalizations.
We planted a garden a few months back and it has gone so crazy we couldn’t exit through our front gate. We finally had to tie a rope around the tops of the tomatoes to hold them back. The cages can no longer keep them upright they are so heavy. They are taller than me, creeping over the fence to our neighbors, and have bark their stalks are so thick. They are loaded with many green tomatoes. I planted 1 pumpkin seed and it has taken over our patio. It produces many flowers but they all have fallen off so far. I hope we get at least one pumpkin. The plant wound its way up into the avocado tree and through the tomatoes even. (we don’t have much space to plant all this stuff so it’s all kind of cramped together) Our potted peppers are doing really well too. We have already eaten one that Serra picked a little early, but there are at least 6 more edible ones on one plant. I won’t be touching the habanero ones that Brian bought against my advice. A jalapeno sprung up from last years seeds on its own and we may see something on that one soon. I am looking forward to all the tomatoes though.
I have a few pictures that I will post later this week.
