  • Guess what I have been doing? OK I’ll spill.  TAXES!!!  They, whoever they are, say that if you expect a return you do it sooner that later.  I have been dreading it and even played with the idea of hiring someone.  I had the task of figuring out the capital gains laws and how much we would owe from the sale of our home in Vegas.  Long story short, I spent most of yesterday filling out test forms and punching a calculator to learn that becuase the reason we sold and moved was a change of employment in a far away location we could claim an exemption up to a certain amount.  We sweaked in by a few thousand dollars and don’t have to claim any of the gain.  WHEW!  I was rather concerned we would end up paying something in the end.  So what I think I have figured is a tidy refund.

Today I got online to download the state return information.  California is retarded.  Thier return is twice the size of federal returns with more cacamaney rules and regulations than any sane person should have to deal with.  It is 62 pages.  I decided I will not waste the ink in my printer and head over to the library to pick up a copy.  Speaking of ink…

Yesterday I tried something new.  I tried refilling my ink tanks instead of just paying $40 to replace them.  The refill only costs $15 and lasts through maybe 5-6 refills.  It was really messy, but I think it worked! So far anyway.  I haven’t tried printing any pictures yet so that will be the true test.

I have finished backing up everything and will be reformating our harddrive this weekend.  Then we will be without a computer for a while.  If Julie makes a call, I will be absent for a while.

  • Taxes, hummmm.  I guess I should at least start thinking about them?  But then again, since I am paying… I have until April 15th at midnight.  (Sounds like I am submitting the family letter!) JR

  • Lucky for me, my personal accountant has filed our taxes & the return was deposited into our bank account a few weeks back. I do love being married to someone who enjoys the taxes thing.
