  • I know I promised more frequent photographs.  It’s not that they aren’t being taken, believe me.  Serra~V~ has been suffering from another cold.  It’s  been really miserable for her.  She wouldn’t stand for being put down for the past week.  She is now on the mend and will tolerate playing alone once in a while.  She was sick after Thanksgiving and had barely gotten better when we went to Vegas for Christmas.  I don’t know if it was the sudden weather change again, or being around sick people, or what, but she was sick when we got her home.  She starts crying when she sees me holding a white object in my hand, assuming it’s a tissue and she is in for it.  Poor little boogus.

On a brighter note we have lots to report since the last entry.  We enjoyed Vegas for Christmas.  It was surely a houseful, but that is what makes it so fun.  Lots happening all the time.  We enjoyed an almost complete Anderson get together.  We missed Holly and Ian though.  Serra’s first Christmas was complete with lots of paper to eat and boxes to chew on.  Who cares what was inside.  We opted for a less expensive holiday for her this year with just a few knick knacks to add to the thousands she already has.  She won’t remember it anyway and enjoyed all the trimmings more anyway.

We were able to stay in Vegas until the 27th, and in that time we cleared and cleaned our house and turned it over to a realtor.  It just wasn’t feasible trying to sell on our own anymore being so far away.  Everything is in the garage right now.  Brian is headed up next week to pick it up for storage here in California.  I nearly shed a tear as I walked around it for that last time and then shut the door behind me.  I will most likely never set foot in it again.  It was our first home and many wonderful things happened while we lived there.  Most importantly, Serra joining us.  Brian and I also put many hours into making it our own and improving it.  It has a lot of meaning to us.  We hope it is not too long before there will be another.  We look forward to the day that we settle in a place we know will be ours for many years.

We saw the new year in without much hubub.  Everyone had plans and we planned to chill at home.  Serra~V~ was still at her worst, cold wise, and wasn’t into being cute for the masses.  So we said Happy New Year, went to bed and ended up staying up most the night anyway.

When Serra~V~ isn’t sick she is definitely the life of the party.  She is learning to imitate and does so many cute things.  She will wave at you if you wave first.  There is a funny little smile she does now where she scrunches up her face and shows her teeth.  I think she is trying to smile like we do.  It is very comical though.  She hasn’t had the use of the walker down here much because there isn’t enough hard floor to accommodate her.  So, she is getting really  close to figuring out the whole crawling thing.  She can get to her hands and knees from a sitting position but doesn’t know what to do with herself once there.  She is starting to clap and loves to be around other kids.  She screams and squeals when kids are around and playing.  I think she will enjoy being in the thick of things in a few months when she is mobile.

We feel pretty settled here in sunny Cali, and are so grateful for the hospitality of Mom and Dad for letting us invade there home big time.  It looks like Dallas will be here at the end of the month and we are really excited to have him here too.   Brian especially.   He and Dallas have always gotten along really well and seem to have a bit in common.   It’s party time.
