Month: October 2002

  • California here we come                        Right back where we started from….

December 1st.  Brian starts with Expedition Motor Homes.  We have an overwhelming amount of things to get done in a month and a bit.  If the the house doesn’t sell right off, I will most likely be staying here quite a bit to see to it.  What to pack?  What to sell?  What to take?  This will be interesting.

  • For those who haven’t seen the babe in recent weeks, here she is sitting pretty.  In the first she is gazing at Daddy.  She is doing really well and only face plants once in a while when she stops paying attention to what she is doing.

  • Word travels quickly when favors are to be had.  There were all sorts of messages when I got home last evening.  One was from our Bishops wife.   She heard somewhere that I do alterations and wanted to know if I could do her daughters homecoming dress.  I have too much on my plate right now to figure that one out.  I don’t have the know how to dare do it anyway.  Interesting how news travels, especially when there were no church meetings this week.

Anyway, we had a great weekend.  We, meaning me and Serra~V~.  Poor Brian got left behind.  Friday we got up really early, 5:30,  (Sleeping in for Dave)  and were to the airport by 7.  The babe slept through the take off but wailed through the landing.  It hurt her ears a bit, I think.  We spent the day helping (I use that word loosely) Mom prepare for the weekend.  In reality, she had everything under control, we just did a few small chores, trying to feel useful.   That evening, much to Moms chagrin, we spent at the church for their wards monthly game night.  She got left in charge, but would much rather have been at home putting the finishing touches on preparations.  I enjoyed it since I don’t get the chance to play games often.  (Brian doesn’t like to lose)

Ahhh, Conference.  It was wonderful.  Not only the cinnamon rolls, jigglers, chocolate,  strawberries, and chex mix, but being fed in another way.  We all started to notice themes right away and wondered a few times what was going on in Utah.  Of course, some of the most interesting things came in the Priesthood session and we enjoyed hearing about that when Dad and Dave got home that evening.

Mom and I spent Monday looking at areas that we might be able to afford when California becomes permanent for us.  There are a few places that I really liked and close to Gary and Liesl.  For those with ears to hear, it is almost a sure thing.  Brian and I have a few more things to discuss and pray about and then we will make and official announcement.

  • Las Vegas is so weird.  It was in the upper 90′s on Sept. 30 and then October rolled in.  The day started normal, but then the winds picked up, the clouds rolled in, and it dropped 15 degrees in a matter of minutes…and October arrived.  It is delightful for the first time since April.  We turned off the Air conditioner with a sigh of relief and woke up with a chill in the air that felt oh-so-good.

Not much to report here except we are all healthy, happy and doing good.  I guess that’s the best news of all.  Brian has the day off and is putting the finishing touches on the bathroom.  Serra~V~ has found that if she gathers a lot of spit in the back of her throat, it gurgles quite nicely.  She practices these trills constantly and loudly.  (And at 5 am sometimes)
